Join us for Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum’s First Friday exhibit opening of Why History Museums Collect Art.

This exhibition is part of the ongoing Lois Kay Walls visual art exhibition series produced by the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.

Art is not only for Art Museums. If a picture is worth a thousand words, it stands to reason that art can tell us a lot about the times and place where it was produced. Local history museums exist to explore time and place.

Featuring works from C.A. Seward, John Noble, Edmund Davison, Birger Sandzen, Bruce McGrew, and more!

This special exhibit is one of dozens on view throughout the Museum, located in Wichita’s original City Hall building, and open to the public during these extended hours.

A thrilling rock opera based on the last week of Jesus’ life, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. The musical is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.

Join us for the 32nd annual Easter Sun Run on April 4 at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita!

Whether you’re racing for the win, enjoying a fun jog with friends, taking a relaxing stroll (and earning a medal for it!), or bringing the family for the Easter Family Fun Zone, this event has something for everyone.

Beyond the finish line, your participation makes a real difference! The Easter Sun Run is a major fundraiser for Youth Horizons, a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of 200 local youth and their families through mentoring, foster residential care, and advocacy programs.

Calling all teens! Come join our monthly book club where we'll chat about our current reads, explore different genres, and participate in fun activities together. Participants pick their next read at each meeting. Get a copy of the monthly book at the Advanced Learning Library's Teen Pavilion.
