Unearth a Story with the Summer Reading Program! Each summer, we encourage pre-readers, kids, and teens to read books, track their progress to earn free prizes, and explore fun, educational programs and activities with the Wichita Public Library.

The Summer Reading Program is for adults, too! Read any five books or complete five activities from a list provided by the Library to be entered into a grand prize drawing.

Join us on First Friday, July 3, to celebrate the opening of Beyond Diagnosis by Fernando Ricardez!
"Beyond Diagnosis" explores the physical and emotional imprints left by illness, surgery, and medical intervention on the human body and psyche. Through painting, I translate my personal journey as a disabled artist with spinal muscular atrophy and a recent brain tumor diagnosis into a collective visual language. The works navigate the fragile terrain between survival and vulnerability, visibility and invisibility, pain and healing. This exhibition is not just about disease, each work is a trace of existence, reinterpreted through art.

This exhibition will feature road trip themed artworks by our local & regional represented artists! 

"Road Trip" is a group exhibition celebrating movement, exploration, and the ever-changing landscapes that shape our journeys. From open highways and quiet backroads to fleeting roadside moments and expansive skies, this exhibition captures the spirit of travel and the stories discovered along the way.

Bringing together a range of artistic voices, "Road Trip" invites both literal and abstract interpretations—highlighting personal connections to place, memory, and discovery. The result is a dynamic collection of work that reflects the many paths, perspectives, and experiences that define unique adventures.

Gallery 12's annual Mini Masterpieces Juried Exhibition. Juried by Marie Bukowski, Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University, it contains 59 artworks by 31 Local & Regional Artists. The exhibition includes both 2-D & 3-D artworks including: Acrylic & Oil Paintings, Pastels, Drawings, Fiber art, glassworks, prints, ceramics, photography and mixed media art.

The exhibition will open on July 3rd and close on July 31st. An opening reception on First Friday July 3rd from 6 - 9 pm will include giving out $1000 in awards by M. Bukowski at 7 pm. A closing reception will be held on Final Friday July 31st from 6-9 pm.

All works will be for sale. Normal Gallery hours are Wednesday/Thursday/Saturday 10 am to 4 pm & Friday from noon to 6 pm. For the month of July Gallery 12 will also be open on Sunday from 1 -4 pm.

Live Improv Comedy at Flying Pig Improv! Join us for laughs and completely unscripted theater and games from our other house troupe, Clockwork! Witness a show that has never been seen before and will never be seen again. At a Flying Pig Improv show you can expect a mix of short form improv games and scenes and some long form improvised theater. All totally made up on the spot! We get inspired by your prompts and then we make you laugh with delight. It's a real hoot! Get in here!

Start your weekends with movement, mindfulness and fresh air at Riverside Yoga at 9 am and Riverside Zumba at 10 am!

Every Saturday morning (May 9 – September 19), join us for a free community yoga and/or Zumba session along the scenic Arkansas River in the Wichita Foundation Amphitheater. Whether you’re well-experienced or new to the practice, this is your chance to flow and move under the open sky and connect with others in a beautiful outdoor setting overlooking the Keeper of the Plains.

Open to all ages and experience levels.

How It Works
Collect your bingo card from Watermark Books & Café or Love of Character. In-store or online.
Get reading and be sure to mark off the corresponding squares on your bingo card.
Once you’ve hit bingo (5 boxes in a horizontal. Vertical. Or diagonal line.) Bring your card into the store and exchange it for a completion prize!
Your completed card will then be entered into a drawing for a grand prize!
Extra Credit: Feel like earning a few more entries? A full card (All 25 squares filled in) will be entered into the grand prize drawing 5 times!

All completed children's cards will receive a prize for turning in the card, and will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing!

Each age bracket will have a Grand Prize winner, which is a tote with a gift card to Love of Character and to Watermark Books & Cafe, with additional goodies!

Participants are encouraged to enter as many bingo cards as they wish. However, completion prizes will only be awarded upon the first entry. Completion prizes may vary, and certain items will only be available while supplies last.

In this exciting teen summer production, performers will bring the high-energy Broadway musical Once Upon a One More Time to life. This high-energy Broadway musical powered by the iconic hits of Britney Spears. When classic storybook princesses begin to question “happily ever after,” a little pop music inspiration changes everything. Packed with humor, heart, and electrifying choreography, this show blends beloved fairy tale characters with chart-topping songs in a bold, empowering theatrical experience. Yannic Dozier will be the Director/Choreographer with Marisa Callan as the Music Director.

· June 29 4:00pm-5:30pm Auditions and pick up scripts. Campers will be taught audition material at the auditions, no need to prepare anything

· July 13-24 (no camp on Sunday) 10:00am-3:30pm each day

· Everyone who signs up for the camp will be cast in the show.

· Performance at 6:00pm on Friday July 24. Tickets will be $10.00 general admission.

· Need at least 15 students enrolled.

· Campers will need to bring a lunch each day.

· $450.00 enrollment fee.

· Camp and performances will take place at Newman University

Dungeons and Dragons is a Tabletop Roleplaying game that has captivated the imaginations of players for over 50 years. Whether you've played before or this is your first time, come play!
