The urge to create or possess a visual representation of a specific person – a portrait – is present throughout history. Portraits are created for many reasons: from sentimental to celebratory, for public or private viewing, as memorials, and as icons. .

Until the introduction of photography in the 1840s, portraits were rendered by artists in both two and three-dimensional mediums such as paintings and sculptures.

The Museum’s collection includes a variety of portraits, most of which depict local people. In this exhibition, we learn of portraiture and the people portrayed.

Weaving is the craft of lacing fibers together to make fabric or cloth. Try out a large loom as a group and make your own woven accessory. For Ages 6-18.

North America's largest interactive comedy murder mystery dinner theatre show is now playing in Wichita, KS! Solve a hilarious true crime murder mystery while you feast on a fantastic dinner. Just beware! The culprit is hiding in plain sight somewhere in the room, and you may find yourself as a Prime Suspect before you know it!

Join us for an event that is very different from a traditional mystery dinner show. Our actors are not dressed in costume and are hidden in the audience! This results in a fun, social and interactive evening suitable for all adults.

Each ticket includes our signature award-winning mystery dinner theatre show, along with a full plated dinner, waitstaff gratuity, and plenty of surprises during the show.

"Anthology”

All Member Exhibition

An anthology is a selected group of literary or other artistic works by multiple authors, gathered together into a single collection. The word originates from the ancient Greek word “anthologia”, which literally translates to “flower-gathering” or “bouquet of flowers”. What a lovely visual image for our show!

Here in our anthology version, the gallery members have all come together in a collection of outstanding two-dimensional works, with an added bonus. As a nod to the literary theme of the title, each artist has had the opportunity to write something about their work and its inspiration, should they choose to do so.

Also, we will be hosting a silent auction of 3-D artworks of pottery & ceramics. The silent auction will be open from First Friday to the end of the month Saturday the 29th.

Lastly, during First Friday we will be hosting another Poetry Night. We are inviting local poets and people interested in poetry to write or bring in their poetry and give readings to the other participants.

The Anthology Group Exhibition will be on view till the 29th.

Our consignment artist for November will be local ceramist Brandon Smith

Time Travelers Vintage Expo is the largest traveling vintage market in the United States, visiting 17 cities from coast to coast. Attendees can expect to find a groovy wonderland with the absolute best in vintage clothing, home goods, retro-inspired handmade, and more!

Vendors are carefully selected from across the country for a highly curated shopping experience, offering a wide range of styles and price points. There is something for everyone at Time Travelers Vintage Expo!

The 31st Annual Wichita Alternative Gift Market will be held on Saturday, November 8th from 10 am to 4 pm, at Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E. Douglas. There will be Twenty Two AGI catalog causes, 4 local causes and 4 local vendors represented. We hope to see you there!

We raised nearly $37,000 in donations on market day last year (not including vendor sales nor cafe donations in support of Hillside’s food pantry). We will raise more from mini-markets throughout the winter Holiday season. That’s a lot of food, medicine, educational supplies and more for our neighbors in need, in Wichita and around the world. We can do it again!
