The kid's dash is a fun, untimed dash for our kiddos ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a specifically crafted medal for our kids' dash event! (If your child wants to run the kid's dash, and doesn't want the SWAG, they are welcome to run with us on race day for free!)

Since 1939, the Historical Museum has been actively collecting and preserving artifacts central to telling our local history’s stories. These artifacts are acquired in a number of ways, including purchases from local thrift shops.

Thrift Finds in the Museum Collection features objects fortunately discovered by Museum staff at local thrift stores. These items, no longer of use to their original owner, can help us to tell the story of our community.

The newest additions in the series include a 1973 leisure suit from Henry's Department Store and a circa 1955 Toni Todd sundress, both found locally at Goodwill (21st & Amidon).

Some notable finds still on view include designs by Halston and Victor Costa, a Nehru jacket retailed by Henry’s department store, and a 1950s Shocker Lounge bowling shirt.

Produced by the Museum, this exhibition was made possible through funding from Stev Overstreet, Alice Smith, the family of Kenneth E Gerhardt, and Goodwill Industries of Kansas

Admission to the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum is free to the public on Sundays!

Since 2022, we have received a generous gift from the Ruth Spooner Stone Charitable Trust, INTRUST Bank to make this possible. Visit us in Downtown Wichita and EXPLORE LOCAL HISTORY in one of America’s finest museums, occupying the original City of Wichita's 1890 City Hall.

Come experience dozens of exhibits featuring thousands of artifacts illuminating our unique local history.

Visit the Museum Store for interesting books and other local souvenirs and gift items.

Curate your own mini-exhibit! Arrange photos from the Museum’s collection to organize and display your own exhibit. Come up with a unique title too! Discover obscure artifacts and try to match them with their descriptions! Finally, take a tour of our special exhibit, Portraits From the Museum Collection on the 3rd Floor, before it closes at the end of the month.

Welcome to HADESTOWN, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, HADESTOWN is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.

Children will develop literacy skills through active listening, singing, movement, and sharing a love of stories in a group setting. For ages 0-6.

Children ages 2 and under will develop a love of learning as they sing, dance, and enjoy simple stories. Caregivers will learn tips to encourage their child's early learning development.
