This self-guided exhibit explores U.S. immigration through documents, maps, and images, sharing stories of people who came by force or choice and how they shaped the nation.

Art is not only for Art Museums. If a picture is worth a thousand words, it stands to reason that art can tell us a lot about the times and place where it was produced. Local history museums exist to explore time and place.

Featuring works from C.A. Seward, John Noble, Edmund Davison, Birger Sandzen, Bruce McGrew, and more!

On view on the Historical Museum's 3rd Floor, throughout 2026 as part of the ongoing Lois Kay Walls visual art exhibition series produced by the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.

Come experience dozens of exhibits featuring thousands of artifacts illuminating our unique local history.

The mid-terms are near. Drop by Evergreen between October 15 and November 2nd and cast a vote for your favorite book character. For ages 4-11.

Children ages 0-6 will develop literacy skills through active listening, singing, movement, and sharing a love of stories in a group setting. Please note this program will not take place on 10/12 at the Alford location.

Parents/caregivers with children 12-36 months old will enjoy a weekly play session attended by community resource specialists to answer your questions about child development. Space is limited; registration is required for each adult/child pair. Call (316) 261-8500 or visit wichitalibrary.org/events to register. (Registration is for the entire 5 week series of workshops.)

Drop in on the first Monday of each month from 6:00 to 7:00 PM for a fun craft you can make and take home! For preschoolers and a parent or caregiver. For ages 3-6.

Learn some helpful tips and tricks to find books, articles, and other info that interests you. This session is focused on using AI tools for research.
