A thrilling rock opera based on the last week of Jesus’ life, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. The musical is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.

Join us for extended hours at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum as we welcome a special exhibit - Service Beyond Barriers.
Students from the Museum Exhibition class at Wichita State University, under the direction of Holmes Museum of Anthropology Director and Instructor, Rachelle Meinecke, have created an exhibit project entitled Service Beyond Barriers: Bravery and Sacrifice in the Face of Adversity.
This exhibit is a collaboration between The Kansas African American Museum, the Mid-American All Indian Museum, and the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum. It explores the powerful and often overlooked stories of minority men and women who have served in the military.
In this exhibit, they focus primarily on African Americans, Native Americans, and women. In the spirit of America’s 250th birthday, this exhibit is a reflection on patriotism, sacrifice, and the meaning of service in America. This exhibit honors those who defended a nation that did not always defend them and recognizes their essential role in shaping both military history and the broader American story.
On temporary view in our 2nd Floor-Special Exhibits West Gallery.

There's trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Meredith Willson's six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall. Featuring songs such as "Seventy-Six Trombones," "Trouble," "'Til There Was You," "Pickalittle" and “Gary, Indiana," The Music Man is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.
