Art is not only for Art Museums. If a picture is worth a thousand words, it stands to reason that art can tell us a lot about the times and place where it was produced. Local history museums exist to explore time and place.
Featuring works from C.A. Seward, John Noble, Edmund Davison, Birger Sandzen, Bruce McGrew, and more!
On view on the Historical Museum's 3rd Floor, throughout 2026 as part of the ongoing Lois Kay Walls visual art exhibition series produced by the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.
Be the first to visit this new exhibition during the First Friday opening on April 3, 2026.

History has never been this fun! In Mini Musicals: Hamilton, young performers will step into the world of one of Broadway’s most exciting and groundbreaking musicals. Through high-energy songs, dialogue, and choreography inspired by Hamilton, students will explore storytelling in an age-appropriate format. Along the way, they’ll build confidence, teamwork, and stage presence while bringing this revolutionary story to life. The experience will culminate in a showcase performance for family and friends, where campers will perform highlights inspired by Hamilton in a mini-musical presentation. Perfect for energetic, creative kids who love to sing, dance, and tell powerful stories — Mini Musicals: Hamilton is a summer camp they won’t want to throw away their shot at! The camp fee is $225.00.
• Full Day Option: $400.00 — Campers may attend both daily sessions and stay all day. Students should bring a lunch to enjoy during the supervised break
Grab the popcorn and get ready for a week of movie-musical magic! In Let’s Go to the Movies!, campers will sing, dance, and act their way through favorite songs and dialogue from beloved movie musicals. From high-energy choreography to storytelling and character work, students will explore what makes musicals on the big screen come to life onstage. This camp is perfect for performers of all experience levels and encourages creativity, confidence, and collaboration in a fun, supportive environment. The week will culminate in a special performance for friends and family, where campers can shine and share their cinematic musical journey. A blockbuster musical theatre experience awaits! Then, campers and their families are invited to join us in Wichita for Music Theatre Wichita’s Saturday Matinee Performance of Elf on July 11 at 2:00pm (transportation from the Burford Theatre to Century Ⅱ and back provided, up to 4 complementary tickets for each participating camper provided). Each summer, Crestview Country Club opens its doors to welcome the Wichita Open. Crestview Country Club, founded in 1921, moved to its present location in 1969 and is the only 36-hole country club in Kansas. Both courses were designed by the legendary golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones.
The Wichita Open enters its 37th year and will be played on Crestview’s North Course, which carries a slope of 131 and a 74.3 course rating from the black tees. This course, measuring 6,913 yards, is a very good test.
Perhaps the most memorable and famous feature of the Wichita Open is the Michelob Ultra Corner located at the 17th green, featuring VIP chalets and a unique festive atmosphere. Each day the 17th green chalets draw 3,000 to 4,000 spectators a day.
Tournament Play begins at approximately 7:00am and ends between 5:00 and 6:00pm on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, play begins around 7:00am and ends between 3:00 and 4:00pm.
