Ben de la Cruz is an award-winning documentary video producer and multimedia journalist. He is currently a senior visuals editor. In addition to overseeing the multimedia coverage of NPR's global health and development, his responsibilities include working on news products for emerging platforms including Amazon's and Google's smart screens. He is also part of a team developing a new way of thinking about how NPR can collaborate and engage with our audience as well as photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, animators, and graphic designers to build new visual storytelling avenues on NPR's website, social media platforms, and through live events.

Piper Pinnetti was a News Lab intern for KMUW during the fall of 2025. She currently works as a reporter and photographer for The Sunflower, the student-led newspaper at Wichita State University. Pinnetti is a senior, majoring in journalism and media production. She plans to graduate from WSU in the fall of 2025 and pursue a career in journalism. In her free time, she likes to read books, write in her journal, and do other various crafts next to her cat, Marigold.

Mya Scott was a News Lab intern for KMUW during the fall of 2025. They currently serve as the opinion editor at The Sunflower, Wichita State’s student-led newspaper.

Tom Shine was the news director at KMUW from 2017-2025. He joined the station after spending 37 years with The Wichita Eagle where he held a variety of reporting and editing roles. He also was the host of The Range, KMUW’s weekly show about where we live and the people who live here. Tom is an adjunct instructor in the Elliott School of Communication at Wichita State University.

Jennifer Anima is a general news reporter at KMUW. Her journey at KMUW started in 2023 as a Spanish Language News intern for Radio Real and in the news lab. Her favorite part of being an intern was gaining professional experience and connecting with the local Hispanic community in Wichita. She can be reached at anima@kmuw.org.

Dana Farrington is a digital editor coordinating online coverage on the Washington Desk — from daily stories to visual feature projects to the weekly newsletter. She has been with the NPR Politics team since President Trump's inauguration. Before that, she was among NPR's first engagement editors, managing the homepage for NPR.org and the main social accounts. Dana has also worked as a weekend web producer and editor, and has written on a wide range of topics for NPR, including tech and women's health.
