Sedgwick County is moving forward with an investigation into its county commissioners.
At the end of October, commissioners approved expanding an independent personnel investigation into commissioner conduct once the personnel review was completed.
A report on the personnel investigation was presented to commissioners during a private meeting two weeks ago.
Commissioner Jim Howell says he was not satisfied with the report, and says there is still unfinished business with the personnel investigation. He suggested continuing to have a discussion on the leadership issues that prompted the independent review.
Commission Chairman David Dennis says the personnel review included more than 100 hours of interviews with at least 45 current and former county employees. No further details on the results of the investigation have been released.
Dennis says he hopes the review of commissioner conduct will follow the same process as the personnel investigation.
"I think that we probably need to take a look at that Code of Ethics that we passed recently, and make sure it is included in this," Dennis said at Wednesday's meeting.
Dennis and Commissioner Richard Ranzau will work with interim County Counselor Mike Pepoon to develop a scope for the new investigation.
Ranzau has accused some commissioners of misconduct and unethical behavior for incidents that happened in the past two years.
