Barbara Fuller Resigns From Wichita School Board

While there are four seats on Wichita’s school board on the ballot on Tuesday, an additional spot on the board was vacated Monday night.

Barbara Fuller served on Wichita’s school board since 2007. She announced Monday that she was moving out of the district, and therefore had to resign. State Sen. Lynn Rogers and Fuller served together on the school board for a decade. Rogers says Fuller brought her years of experience in education to the role.

"She came from the classroom and came from the teaching ranks," Rogers says. "She understood the needs of the teachers. She added a great element to the board. So she’ll be missed."

The board voted to immediately start the process of appointing a new member to serve out the remaining two years of Fuller’s term. The appointment will likely happen before those newly elected to the board begin their terms in January.
