Wichita BOE Reaches Tentative Contract Agreement With Local Teachers Union
The Wichita Board of Education and United Teachers of Wichita have reached a tentative agreement for the 2017-18 school year.
The agreement includes a 3.95 percent base salary increase, with one salary step for all teachers who are eligible to advance, and an additional salary step for those teachers who are behind on the step schedule.
Longevity payments for veteran teachers will be unfrozen, and the district will return to the 190-day calendar and shorter school days.
Regarding all forms of compensation, the district says more than half of Wichita Public Schools teachers will see their compensation increase by more than 8 percent.
