At Play: Theatre Goes Underground

Now through February 22, the Crown Uptown presents Godspell. Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz that paints a portrait with various musical parables from the Gospel According to Matthew. Jesus Christ recruits a group of followers and teaches them lessons through song and dance featuring a wide range of musical genres including bluegrass, R&B and rock and roll.

Wichita State University Theatre presents The Trojan Women by Euripides. The Trojan Women is the classic story of the Trojan War told through the eyes of the women it left behind. This production runs February 19-23 with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday at the Wellsbacher Theatre inside the Hughes Metropolitan Complex. This production is directed by senior theatre performance major Trevor Comstock.

Fisch Haus will host a production of David Ives’ 2010 play Venus In Fur. The two-person production is directed by Michael Webber and Karen Wild and stars Susan Guntly and Bryan Welsby. The production runs February 21-23 and is for mature audiences.

And for those with an interest in something more underground, Strataca at the Kansas Underground Salt Museum presents a Murder In The Mine Dinner Theatre production on February 22 from 5 until 10 p.m.
