Wichita Mosaic: Chris Maslen

Wichita is a city with people from many cultures and backgrounds. A jigsaw puzzle made up of colorful and interlocking pieces. But how much do we really know about the people that live here?

Actor and comedian Chris Maslen was born in Kansas, but has spent most of his life in Seattle, Washington.

Recently, Maslen was hired to play the role of Bernard Nightingale in the Wichita Center For The Arts Theatreproduction of "Arcadia" by Tom Stoppard. Since the play, he and fellow "Arcadia" actress Jenny Wine have started dating, and Chris has been making friends and getting to really know Wichita for the first time as an adult. He's discovering that it's similar to Seattle in many ways, like how Kirby's Beer Store reminds him of hipster bars back home.

Listen to Chris's story here.

Chris has also done stand-up comedy, performed a number of comedic roles, and developed some comedy characters.

Below, he talks about his stand-up, where he believes comedians get their jokes, and shares how much he loves the work of the late comedian Bill Hicks.
