Frontier Airlines Resumes Wichita To Denver Service

Eisenhower National Airport Facebook
Frontier Airlines will begin service between Eisenhower National Airport and Denver on Thursday.

Frontier Airlines’ service between Wichita and Denver officially begins Thursday.

Flights from Wichita’s Eisenhower National Airport will be offered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Flights will depart Wichita at 6 p.m.; flights will depart Denver at 2:40 p.m.

Thursday will mark the low-cost airline’s return to the market after it ended daily flights in 2012, citing poor performance. Frontier announced its return to Wichita in May.

“We were a totally different airline,” Stephen Shaw, with Frontier, told KMUW in May. “We’ve gone through a bankruptcy since then, so we’ve come out ahead (and have) a different business model, but one that’s more sustainable.”

Fares on flights to and from Denver rose on average almost 90 percent after Frontier’s departure. United is the only other airline at Eisenhower to offer flights on that route.

Frontier’s addition brings the number of airlines serving Wichita’s airport to seven.
