Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport has rolled out additional security measures at its TSA checkpoints.

Travelers are now required to remove all electronics larger than a cell phone from their carry-on bags for X-ray screening. That includes items like tablets and disk drives.

Kansas TSA security director Jay Brainard says the electronics should be in their own bin with nothing covering them, similar to how laptop computers are screened.

“TSA constantly evaluates and updates screening procedures to stay ahead of evolving threats," he says. "Our intelligence has determined that all items larger than a cell phone are items that we want to have additional screening on.”

The new measures were introduced at several airports this summer, and will slowly be implemented at airports across the country over the coming months.
