Kan. Senate Passes Union Contribution Bill

The Kansas Senate passed a bill Thursday that restricts how public employee unions collect member payments. They would be barred from deducting money from member paychecks for political purposes.


New Mid-Continent Airport Terminal Ahead Of Schedule

Officials in Wichita say construction of a new terminal at Mid-Continent Airport is ahead of schedule.

Members of the City Council and Mayor Carl Brewer toured the site Thursday.

Construction of the $160 million terminal began in October and is expected to be completed in 2015. The terminal will replace one built in 1954. 

Wichita Airport Authority director Victor White says the existing terminal is among the oldest in the country and "functionally obsolete."

The new terminal will have 12 gates as well as exhibits showcasing Wichita's aviation history.

Kansas Sees Slight Population Growth

New estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show modest population growth in Kansas. Census data projects that Kansas gained about 15,500 residents from July 2011 to July 2012, bringing its population to almost 2.9 million.

Geary and Riley counties had population growth of more than 3 percent. Both include portions of Fort Riley, where soldiers have been returning from overseas deployments.

New Boeing Wing Brings Flight Simulator To Kansas Aviation Museum

The new Boeing Science, Math and History Learning Center is opening at the Kansas Aviation Museum Saturday.
