The city is facing an estimated several million dollar deficit in 2026, with the deficit growing in the following years.

The move is expected to save the city about $120,000 a year.

The City Council will review its contract with McClatchy at its April 2 meeting.

Brandon Whipple won election to the mayor's office in 2019.

In her victory speech, she pledged to “restore” public safety, focus on economic development and address inflation.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7. Early voting is ongoing at the Sedgwick County Election Office and more advance polling locations open Thursday.

The regulations follow a 2021 shooting at an Airbnb in Crown Heights, where one person died and three were injured.

Dalton Glasscock won 50% of the vote, while Judy Pierce took the next-biggest share at 24%.

The primary election is Aug. 1, but early voting begins July 17.

The ordinance changes will apply for this year’s primary elections, including the election period, which the city has defined as 45 days before an election and two days after.
