The Wichita Police Department is hosting a city-wide event on Saturday to hear feedback about law enforcement from community members.
The “What’s Going On and What More Can We Do” event invites people to discuss trends, topics and concerns in the criminal justice system with city, county and state law enforcement officials.
Police Chief Gordon Ramsay says the goal of the event is for his department and other agencies to gather insights from the community to help improve law enforcement effectiveness.
“The goal of the event is to build relationships and work with the community to provide understanding and clarity and learn where improvements can be made,” Ramsay says.
The event will include roundtable discussions with law enforcement officials and panel discussions. Among those scheduled to attend are Ramsay, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter, District Attorney Marc Bennett and Jennifer Magana, director of law for the city of Wichita.
Attendance for the event is limited to 280 people. A free lunch will be provided.
The meeting will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wichita State University Metropolitan Complex, 5015 E. 29th Street North.
