Recount Deadline Tuesday For Candidates In Sedgwick County General Election

Sedgwick County Twitter
The Sedgwick County Board of Canvassers meets Monday to certify provisional ballots.

There were a few close races in last week's general election in Sedgwick County, and some candidates may consider a recount.

In the Wichita School Board District 1 race, unofficial results showed Ben Blankley narrowly defeated incumbent Betty Arnold by 123 votes. After Monday’s canvass, that number has now shrunk to 84.

Sedgwick County Chief Deputy Election Commissioner Sandy Gritz said a candidate on the ballot from the city of Haysville did contact the election office for information about the recount process.

"We have had a request or two for information about how the procedure would work, but we haven't received any official request for a recount at this point," Gritz said Monday.

Interested candidates must request a recount by 5 p.m. Tuesday night.
