Democratic Kansas Lawmakers To Speak At DemoFest In Wichita

DemoFest

Kansas lawmakers will take part in a candidate roundtable during DemoFest 2016 on Friday.

Democratic Sen. Oletha Faust-Goudeau will spearhead the roundtable discussion along with state Reps. Jim Ward and Brandon Whipple, who won their recent primary elections unopposed.

Faust-Goudeau says they will offer helpful tips to candidates who will be on the November ballot. She says one tip for candidates is to meet with voters and hear their concerns.

"That face-to-face contact is certainly effective," she says. "I will be letting them know to just run your race, don’t get into the negative, just to stay focused on your goal and your purpose of moving our state forward."

Faust-Goudeau says Democratic Kansas lawmakers are looking to better fund public education, increase real job creation and perhaps get Medicaid expansion accomplished in the 2017 legislative session.

The rountable begins Friday night at 7 p.m. as part of DemoFest at the Drury Plaza Broadview Hotel in downtown Wichita.
