Next Up: Float On The River And Get A New Perspective

mama.film

There’s still time to register for mama.film’s movie trivia tomorrow night. It’s hosted by Hugo Phan of the KMUW Movie Club, and I’ve heard a certain local movie reviewer will serve as scorekeeper. It’s a series of four events, every other Thursday through August 12. Learn more at mama.film.

Starting this Friday, July 9, the City of Wichita is offering Floatin' on the River kayak tours on the Arkansas. There are four different types through September 15: moonlight Glow Tours, a Senior Tour and Sunrise Tour, and several Sunset Tours. Click here to see all the dates and times.

Next up is the Indian Art Market at the Mid-America All-Indian Museum on Saturday, July 10. Browse and purchase artwork created by local Native artists from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. While there you can also explore the Bring the Bosins Home exhibit, devoted to the works of Keeper of the Plains creator Blackbear Bosin. Go to theindiancenter.org for details.

Later that evening, the Wichita Symphony presents Symphony 360: A New Perspective. The symphony strings will perform from the center of the Century II Convention Hall, with the audience surrounding them for a unique 360 view. Find tickets at wichitasymphony.org.

The following Saturday, July 17, WAVE is taking over Naftzger Park for a Goonies Never Say Die Party. Starting at 6:00 p.m., the event includes an ‘80s-themed DJ set, outdoor bar, and a screening of the 1985 film The Goonies. It’s open to everyone. Click here to learn more.
