Shannon Lay has returned with the album Past The Veil, released on her own All The Best label. The process began in 2024 with producer and engineer Rob Shelton joining Lay and a cast of musicians who would enter the studio, begin writing songs on the spot, then watch them grow into fully realized tracks. The result is not only Lay’s best album to date but her most wide-ranging and thought provoking.
She recently spoke about the process of making the album, the connection she sees between song making and other artistic endeavors and forming her own label after leaving the Sub Pop imprint.
