Food Assistance

Catholic Charities’ Our Daily Bread food pantry now operates as a drive-thru food pantry. Food is distributed based on need and family size. More information 

The Andover Community Food Bank is open for drive-thru pickup only. The food bank has increased the number of times families can receive groceries to help with the increased demand. The Andover Police Department can also deliver groceries to clients’ homes. More information

The Wichita United Methodist Church Open Door Program extended their eligibility for their food pantry services to anyone affected by COVID-19. Individuals only need to provide proper paperwork to receive the services. More information

The Salvation Army's Client Choice food pantry is open for curbside pickup. Families are able to choose their groceries themselves with scheduled appointments.More information

The ICT Community Fridge is a community resource providing free food to anyone regardless of financial situation or need. Fridges are located at Dead Center Vintage, Center for Human Development, and the Knox Restoration Center.More information

 

Unemployment Help

 

Individuals facing unemployment due to COVID-19 can use the “Get Trained, Get Paid”websiteto find learning and training opportunities to build their resumes and increase their chances of finding new jobs. This website is organized by the Greater Wichita Partnership and the Workforce Alliance.  More information

 

The Kansas Department of Commerce opened the COVID-19 Jobs and Hiring Response Portal to help with people who have lost jobs and are searching for new opportunities during the pandemic. More information

Individuals who don't otherwise qualify for unemployment benefits but were affected by the pandemiccan apply for benefits through the Kansas Department of Labor’s Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program. More information

 

Free Services

 

The Salvation Army is providing emergency assistance to people affected by COVID who cannot make utilities payments. The funds are limited but can be applied for online.More information

 

The Center of Hope helps families facing eviction with paying utilities and other bills. Individuals must schedule an appointment with a case manager to confirm eligibility. More information

Project DESERVE helps pay Evergy bills for individuals with serious disabilities, senior citizens and income-eligible families. Individuals can receive a one-time payment of $100-300 to help pay bills. More information

 

The Wichita Emergency Rent Assistance Program will help people who have been laid off due to COVID or are struggling to make rent and utility payments. Application for the funds require tax information and proof of income from 2020.More information

 

 

Volunteer Opportunities

Helping Hands Community is a nonprofit that connects at-risk individuals with volunteers willing to deliver groceries, medication, and other necessary items to their homes. More information

Qualified medical professionals can help hospitals and clinics in Sedgwick County by assisting with COVID-19 testing as more supplies and sites become available. More information

The ICT Mask Drive is collecting hundreds of masks to provide students at under-supplied elementary schools in Wichita. Masks can be donated at several drop-off locations or individuals can directly donate money to the organization. More information

People can donate to the Wichita Food Bank through Dillons’ Community Rewards Program when they shop. More information
