We mark the birthday of music legend Stevie Wonder with work from throughout his career, including guest appearances with Cyndi Lauper, Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan and others. Plus covers of Wonder compositions from Phish, Petra Haden with Bill Frisell, and Jeff Beck.

Thursday, May 14

Listen for music from Fiona Apple’s 1996 debut album Tidal as well as music from Suzanne Vega’s Nine Objects of Desire.

Friday, May 15

Bridget Kearney and Benjamin Lazar Davis’ newest collaboration is Still Flying, the result of a 2019 trip to Ghana where the longtime friends collaborated with masters of the gyil and kologo. The result is an album that brings together sensibilities from their respective past work (Lake Street Dive, Cuddle Magic) as well as elements of world music. We’ll hear selections from that release as well as songs from Lake Street Dive’s 2018 LP Free Yourself Up.

Saturday, May 16

We mark the birthday of guitarist Robert Fripp, founding member of progressive rock band King Crimson. We’ll hear Fripp’s work with that band as well as collaborations with Blondie, Daryl Hall, Andy Summers (The Police), Brian Eno, David Bowie and Peter Gabriel, among others.
