SPECIAL: Labor Day 2018

KMUW Music has been hard at work to bring you 5 hours of music on Labor Day, September 3. Tune in from 7 p.m. to midnight as Global Village, Strange Currency and Night Train team up to celebrate with an evening of specials.

Join Global Village at 7 p.m. for songs about work and working in a wide array of styles. Amoung the featured artists: Tom Waits, Toots Hibbert, the Strawbs, Abbey Lincoln, the Roches, Jimmy Reed and more.

Strange Currency celebrates with selections from Mick Jagger, Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, Bruce Springsteen and others.

Catch two special programs celebrating Labor Day with jazz and popular songs devoted to work and workers on Night Train.

  • Night Train | 10:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
Jedd Beaudoin is host/producer of the nationally syndicated program Strange Currency. He has also served as an arts reporter, a producer of A Musical Life and a founding member of the KMUW Movie Club. As a music journalist, his work has appeared in Pop Matters, Vox, No Depression and Keyboard Magazine.
