Public Invited To View Proposals For New Delano 'Catalyst' Site
The City of Wichita is deciding between two developers for a new project in Delano. Now, they’re asking for the public’s help in choosing the finalist.
The so-called Delano Catalyst Site sits northwest the intersection of Douglas Avenue and McLean, just between the new $37 million Advanced Learning Library and the $38 million River Vista project.
The city wants to build a mixed-use development on the 7-acre site that will include commercial, retail and residential space.
Assistant city manager Scot Rigby calls it a key piece of property for the area.
“The thing we’re particularly exited about is on either side of this development is approximately $70 million worth of investment going on today," he said at a briefing Tuesday. "So this will be a great cornerpiece for this segment of the Delano District.”
The two potential developers, EPC Real Estate and Delano Partners, will share details and renderings from their proposals at an open house for the public's input. The Delano Catalyst Site open house is Wednesday night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Central Library in downtown Wichita.
