FlightSafety International is suing 20 aviation companies connected to a small plane that crashed into a FlightSafety building in 2014.

The pilot and three people in the building were killed in the crash.

The lawsuit was filed in Sedgwick County District Court less than a week before the two-year anniversary of the crash.

FlightSafety’s lawsuit is seeking damages for negligence, liability and breach of warranty against manufacturing and service companies such as Beechcraft, Yingling Aviation, Hartzell Propellers and Pratt & Whitney.

A preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) says the Beechcraft King Air twin-engine turbo-prop had just left Wichita’s airport when the left engine failed.

The NTSB said the pilot failed to maintain control and crashed into FlightSafety’s building on the airfield.

The crash destroyed the building and damaged several flight simulators and other equipment.

The lawsuit says days before the crash, the plane was sold and had undergone maintenance.

The purpose of the flight was to get the plane to a facility for painting.
