Friends University presents George Bernard Shaw’s Arms and the Man this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, January 25, 26, 27. RainaPetkoff is rapturous about the romance of war and idolizes one of its ostensibly heroic warriors until a weary and desperate enemy soldier climbs into her bedroom window to hide. Her world and those who live in it will just have to change as they take a new look at "arms and the man."

Mosley Street Melodrama continues its production of The Greater Tuna now through February 2. The comedy follows life in Texas’s third smallest town, where the local football team has recently lost a game 48-0 mainly because, as the coach puts it, the team couldn’t score. Follow the plot as the citizens parade across the stage discussing life, politics, and what makes the town of Tuna tick. This production is directed by Wichita stage veteran JR Hurst.

Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs opens this Thursday at Wichita Community Theatre. Set in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, New York, in 1937 this coming-of-age comedy is told from the perspective of Eugene, age 15, who dreams of playing for the Yankees and seeing a girl naked. Eugene is the play’s narrator who with a wry sense of humor as an aspiring writer chronicles the ups and downs of life in the Jerome household. He is the only character, who at times, “steps out of the play” to address the audience directly and give them a snapshot of the family’s struggles and secrets in a comic as well as a poignant way. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday. The production closes on February 10.
