Kansas Repealer Office Sets Up Online Tip Site
The Kansas Office of the Repealer has joined a school efficiency task force in setting up a website to gather tips and suggestions from the public.
Secretary of Administration Dennis Taylor announced the repealer's new site only days after the school efficiency group set up its site to take anonymous tips. But the repealer's site gives people the choice of remaining anonymous or leaving contact information.
Taylor says the goal is to gather reports of potential waste, fraud and abuse within state government.
Governor Sam Brownback set up the office within the Department of Administration to identify laws and regulations that are burdensome or outdated. Thirty-seven have been repealed.
Brownback created the schools task force last month.

Six outgoing Kansas Republican state senators have endorsed the chamber's Democratic leader in his bid for re-election.
All six of those announcing their support Friday for Minority Leader Anthony Hensley are considered GOP moderates.
Experts Say Graduated Driver's Licenses Reduces Teen Accident Rate
Safety experts say a graduated driver's license law that went into effect in 2010, and increased use of seat belts, have helped reduce accidents involving teenagers in Kansas.
State transportation records show the number of accidents involving drivers 14 through 16 years old dropped from more than 5,000 in 2004 and 2005 to fewer than 3,000 last year.
The graduated license law requires all teen drivers to hold a learner's permit for 12 months before obtaining a restricted or unrestricted license. Teen drivers are prohibited from using cell phones for the first six months after getting a full license, having more than one non-sibling minor passenger and driving after 9 p.m. except to and from work or school.

Fundraising efforts to establish a school of public health at the University of Kansas have received a big boost from the Kansas Health Foundation.
Agriculture Secretary To Tour School For Kansas Food Week
Kansas Food Day takes place this week, and state Agriculture Secretary Dale Rodman will spend part of it touring the garden, orchard and culinary arts facility at a high school.
The state Agriculture Department is partnering with the Eudora School District for the celebration Wednesday at Eudora High School. Officials from Douglas County and the state Department of Education will also take part.
Students in Eudora's agricultural education program will lead the tours.
October is also National Farm To School Month, and the visiting officials will join Eudora students for a lunch made partly from local food products.
