Taj Mahal & Charlie Hunter

May 22/24

Crossroads continues the May Taj Mahal Feature with music he did with Keb’ Mo’ and a look at his inventive celebration of the famed Savoy Ballroom in an hour two special. We’ll also mark the birthday of guitarist and producer Charlie Hunter with music from recent blues collaborations he did with Candice Ivory, Jubu Smith, and Dashawn Hickman. And there’s new music from Mike Finnigan, Freddie King, and Ed Alstrom.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
