Roosevelt DeShazer Sr., president of the Greater Wichita Ministerial League and pastor of the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.

Ministerial League president Rev. Roosevelt DeShazer says Winans will lift up this year's theme: #Unity.

DeShazer says there must be a coming together of all people.

"Because in our country right now there is so much division and so much anger and hatred that's going on, we have to unify ourselves," he says.

Community leaders will also be honored, and part of a freewill offering will help high schoolers attend college.

The MLK event will be held at the WSU Metropolitan Complex on Monday, Jan. 21, at noon.
