Wichita Public Schools Announces Changes In Leadership For Next School Year

The Wichita school district — the state's largest — has announced leadership changes for the 2021-22 school year, including new principals at several schools and some changes to district administration:

  • Gil Alvarez, formerly assistant superintendent of secondary schools, is deputy superintendent. He replaced Tiffinie Irving, who left the district last fall and now works for Pearson, an educational publishing and assessment service.
  • Amanda Kingrey, executive director of secondary schools, will be assistant superintendent of secondary schools.
  • Loren Hatfield, principal of Hamilton Middle School, will be executive director of secondary schools, replacing Kingrey.
  • Patrick Greene will be clerk of the board, replacing Mike Willome, who is retiring.
  • Travis Rogers, assistant principal at Southeast High School, will be principal at South High, replacing Cara Ledy, who is retiring.
  • Matt Creasman, principal at Northeast Magnet High School, will be principal at Jardine STEM and Career Explorations Academy, replacing Leslianne Craft, who is leaving the district.
  • Ben Myrick, principal at Christa McAuliffe Academy, will be principal at Northeast High, replacing Creasman.
  • Chad Cushenbery, assistant principal at Robinson Middle School, will be principal at Hamilton Middle School, replacing Hatfield.
  • Joel Escarpita, assistant principal at Pleasant Valley Middle School, will be principal at Horace Mann, replacing Vanessa Martinez, who will be assistant principal at North High.
  • Melinda Mutuku, assistant principal at Curtis Middle School, will be principal at Curtis, replacing Amy Champlin, who is retiring.
  • Tara Craddock, assistant principal at Stucky Middle School, will be principal at Christa McAuliffe Academy.
  • Eboni Armstrong, assistant principal at Anderson Elementary, will be principal at Anderson, replacing Terri Lemos, who is leaving the district.
  • Tara Parton, assistant principal at Mueller Elementary, will be principal at Mueller, replacing Paula Rodriquez, who is leaving the district.
  • Greg Stoskopf, assistant principal at Christa McAuliffe Academy, will be principal at Woodland Elementary.
