On Stage: Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Andrews Brothers, and Sherlock Holmes

Sep 24, 2018

Andrew Lloyd Webber is turning 70, and the whole world is joining the party. You can be a part of that global celebration if you attend the Wichita Grand Opera's fund-raising gala, featuring a concert production of the great composer's music on November 16 and 17 at the Crown Uptown Theatre. The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber! includes 20 of Webber's most beloved works, such as “Music of the Night” from The Phantom of the Opera and “Memory,” from Cats. This event is a cooperative effort featuring Ballet Wichita and the young artists with the Wichita Grand Opera, as well as a 12-piece orchestra.

Meanwhile, The Andrews Brothers is a finger-snapping, toe-tapping delight of a musical in which three stagehand brothers step up to make a USO show go on after the The Andrews Sisters are quarantined before their performance. Music includes “Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Mairzy Doats,” and more of the Andrews Sisters favorites. This show is onstage at Roxy's Downtown on Fridays through Sundays, September 21st to October 14th.

Looking ahead to November, you might consider making reservations now for the Prairie Pines Mystery Theatre production of Sherlock Holmes and the Missing Holly. You can kick off the holiday season in style with a catered dinner and the world's most famous detective to solve the evening's puzzle.
