New Month/New Music New Releases Show

August 10/12

Throughout August, Crossroads features blues rock in honor of Robert Plant’s 70th birthday (also featured on Strange Currency throughout the month) and this time it’s music from his brief Honeydrippers project and the solo album Now and Zen, along with a recently released live set from Savoy Brown and a House of Blues tribute to British Blues in hour two of the show.

Friday is also the 100th birthday of Texas Tenor Arnett Cobb (also featured on Night Train throughout the month) and Crossroads highlights some of his blues-flavored tracks – and the Living Blues Awards were also just announced and Crossroads features winners throughout the month, including this time with music from Jimmy Reed and Wee Willie Walker.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
