Democrat Paul Davis says he's entering the 2014 Kansas Gubernatorial Race. Davis is an attorney in Lawrence, currently serving in the Kansas Legislature as House minority leader.
David announced his plans to challenge Republican Gov. Sam Brownback Tuesday on social media. It's his first attempt at holding a statewide office.
In an online video announcing his candidacy, Davis says he wants to focus on education, protecting the middle class and rewarding hard work in Kansas.
The 41-year-old lawmaker has been in the House since 2003. Former Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is scheduled to appear at a reception for Davis Thursday in Mission Hills.
