Record collectors and music enthusiasts from all over the U.S. and other parts of the world will visit Salina next week for the first ever Vinyl Summit. The event is a celebration of 40 years of business for Louisiana transplant Chad Kassem, who started a small mail order business, Acoustic Sounds, out of his tiny Salina apartment in 1986 and has seen it grow into a multi-million-dollar business with a record pressing plant, live music venue, and recording studio. Kassem has been dubbed the "Wizard of Vinyl" not only for his business acumen but also for his attention to detail in creating collector-quality quality via his Analogue Productions label. KMUW's Jedd Beaudoin recently visited with Kassem to learn more about his multi-faceted business.
