Novelist and short story author Lily King has written seven books. Her 2014 novel, Euphoria, won the Kirkus Prize for fiction, and she may be best known for her 2020 release, Writers & Lovers.

Her new novel, Heart the Lover, is a love story spanning multiple decades and follows a nameless narrator and her intense romance with her college sweetheart. The book dives into questions about identity, crafting fiction, and various forms of grief. And spoiler alert: Heart the Lover has a surprising connection to Writers & Lovers.
I recently spoke with Lily King about Heart the Lover and here’s our conversation.
