Officials say an earthquake that shook Wichita on Saturday resulted in damage to city buildings. The 5.1 magnitude quake was centered near Fairview, Oklahoma.

Deputy Director of Public Works and Utilities Joe Pajor says the damage is minor and that staff will continue to evaluate facilities in greater detail through the week.

“We will be collecting cost estimates for addressing those damages so that we can determine whether or not we have sufficient losses to make an insurance claim on our insurance company,” he said during a briefing Tuesday.

Pajor says there were minor cracks in the wall on the 14th floor of City Hall and sheetrock damage at Alford Public Library. He says all of the damage found so far has been cosmetic.
