Christmas Cheer From Wichita's Own The Love Family

Sunday, December 20

Christmas time is here and we're celebrating with more good cheer on Soulsations! Wichita’s own The Love Family have released a brand new song this season called “Christmas Bells”. Terry Corbett tells how he came to write the tune and collaborate with the legendary group.

We’ll also hear a Christmas favorite from Broadway star Karla Burns and baritone extraordinaire Earnest Alexander, both from Wichita as well. We’ll feature new music from Rhyme & Reason with powerhouse singer April Hall and a top-selling gospel Christmas tune from Norman Hutchins & JDI Christmas, along with holiday sounds from Fantasia, Jeffery Osborne, Anthony Hamilton, and “Christmas Rappin” from Kurtis Blow. We’ll go on a fun “Sleigh Ride” on this week’s DoubleTake with a version by the Queen of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald and a cover by Earth, Wind and Fire from their one and only Holiday album.

Carla Eckels is Director of Organizational Culture at KMUW. She produces and hosts the R&B and gospel show Soulsations and brings stories of race and culture to The Range with the monthly segment In the Mix.
