About 1,300 people gathered yesterday for a memorial service at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, to remember three people killed in shootings last weekend.
Dr. William Corporon and his grandson, Reat Underwood were killed outside the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City.
Terri LaManno died at a nearby Jewish retirement complex.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was one of the speakers at the event.
"Although our hearts are truly broken, all Americans stand with the people of Overland Park, of Leawood and of Kansas City," Holder says. "We are united in our condemnation of this heinous attack and in our commitment to see that justice is served."
Holder joined Governor Sam Brownback and several religious and political leaders at an interfaith memorial service.
Rabbi Arthur P. Nemitoff of Congregation of B’nai Jehudah told those at the service to love their neighbors as the victims would.
Frazier Glenn Cross is charged in Kansas with capital murder and premeditated first-degree murder in connection with the killings.
