An artistic depiction of the jacket worn by Admiral Windwagon Smith is the backdrop for the 2018 River Festival poster, which was unveiled Friday.

The poster was created by Wichita artist Joe Worley, who won $3,500 for his winning design.

“I love to create and share my creations with the world,” Worley said in a news release. “Having my art selected to be the imagery for this year’s Riverfest is a truly awesome and humbling experience.”

Worley’s art was selected from among 27 entries. It will be featured in promotional materials for this year’s festival, which runs June 1-9.

A graduate of Wichita State University, Worley is a freelance designer and illustrator. He also belongs to Brickmob, an artist collective that is active in Wichita.
