Life After Domestic Abuse: Better With The Wichita Women’s Initiative Network
Domestic violence affects one in three women in the U.S. For the past 20 years, a local Wichita organization has worked to help survivors of domestic abuse transition to better living.
The Wichita Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) is a nonprofit collaborative organization that provides these women with educational and employment opportunities. WIN is celebrating 20 years this fall. More than 200 women and 400 children have been helped since its inception.
Forty-year-old Monica, who asked that just her first name be used, has been in the WIN program since June. KMUW’s Carla Eckels spoke with her and shares her story.
