The City of Wichita is hosting a free expo Saturday for residents looking for housing assistance and resources.
The second annual Housing Expo will include more than 70 vendors and have various workshops to help people find housing around Wichita, whether it’s advice on purchasing a house or help finding affordable housing.
“Our resources are gonna range from rental properties, we’re going to have property managers from various apartment complexes around the city, landlords that accept Section 8 housing choice vouchers," John Hall, director of Housing and Community Services, told the city’s NewsNow program.
Hall recommends bringing ID and pay stubs, especially for people who want to learn about the city’s public housing and voucher programs.
In a recent report, Hall told city council members that his department operates 578 public housing units. To be eligible, a household can't earn more than 80 percent of the area median income.
The Housing Expo is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Century II Exhibition hall.
