Since January 2016, KMUW's Engage ICT: Democracy on Tap has convened free community conversations on topics that touch our daily lives. Democracy on Tap went digital in April 2020. Viewers can stream the live conversations here at EngageICT.org or KMUW's Facebook page.

Engage ICT: Engage Local

The February Engage ICT event was held on Tuesday, February 21, at Distillery 244 located at 244 N. Mosley. We're used to hearing about the importance of shopping local, but when was the last time you were asked to engage local? For February's Democracy On Tap event, KMUW brought together a panel of city and county officials to discuss civic engagement on the local level. Attendees learned what the city and county actually do -- and how we can get involved.

Panelists included:

  • Wichita Councilwoman/Vice Mayor Janet Miller
  • Wichita City Manager Robert Layton
  • Sedgwick County Chairman Dave Unruh
  • Sedgwick County Manager Mike Scholes

Here's the audio from that event:
