The collaborative effort includes several financial service organizations, the Kansas Treasurer's Office, NAACP branches from across the state and the Small Business Administration. Coordinator Bonita Gooch, publisher of The Community Voice paper, says the breakout sessions include financial information on becoming a homeowner, landlord and renters rights, entrepreneurship and how to repair your credit.

“The senior track is really great with social security issues, how not to retire broke and late-life legal issues," Gooch says. "We have experts in every field coming in to conduct these workshops."

Financial planners, attorneys and credit counselors will share information. Attendees can also get a free copy of their credit report.
