You're On Your Own To Clean Up After Thursday's Storm

Crews from the city of Wichita are currently clearing tree limbs and debris that fell into streets and onto public property during the Thursday night wind storm.

However, they will not pick up debris from private property owners. Instead they are encouraging homeowners to work with their trash haulers to remove debris or take it to one of four Wichita locations for a fee.

The damaging winds downed trees and damaged other property across the city, with most damage occurring in central and west Wichita. Since the storm subsided last night, city crews have been clearing debris that fell into the streets. Major streets will be cleared before residential streets. Crews are also trimming dangerous limbs hanging from trees on public property or rights-of-way.

A list of solid waste haulers is provided on www.wichita.gov. The four following Wichita locations are accepting storm debris for a fee.

  • Brooks Landfill, 4100 N West Street, 316.722.0601
