The Lake Afton Observatory is holding a special Father's Day weekend event called Moons, Rings, and Other Things.

The public can see the rings of Saturn or witness the Moon's deep craters and smooth plains with the observatory's large telescope. Visitors can also touch a rock from space, and go on a scavenger hunt through the solar system. Outside, there are small telescopes and binoculars available for those who want to to use to find objects in the night sky.

The staff will be on hand to help explain what each person might see as well as how astronomers locate planets and orbiting distant stars. Fathers and grandfathers will be able to get in for free when accompanied by a child. The event will be presented from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15.

For full program details go to the observatory's website.
