Tuesday Topics: Political Redistricting

Every ten years, following the U.S. Census, Kansas state legislators draw new political district boundaries that will remain in place for the next decade.  How will district lines be drawn to ensure that all voters are fairly represented?  WSU Professor Brian Amos will present this session on the difficulties of creating districts of equal size and how to avoid "gerrymandered" lines that are designed to ensure power remains in the hands of the dominant party.
Dr. Amos earned his Masters and PhD in political science from the Univ. of Florida, specializing in legislative redistricting, election administration,, and other political analysis. Co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters Wichita-Metro.
