Cargill Announces $50 Million In Upgrades To Wichita Soybean Plant

Cargill, Wikipedia Commons

Cargill plans to invest more than $50 million to upgrade and increase the capacity of its soybean processing plant in Wichita. KMUW’s Abigail Wilson reports the project is expected to be completed in 2017.

Cargill has operated the Wichita soybean processing plant since the 1960s alongside its Cargill Dressing, Sauces and Oils refinery plant. The company also recently completed a $10 million product line expansion in the refinery.

About 70 people are employed at the facility; including Cargill’s meat businesses, the company employs more than 1,000 people in Wichita.

Representatives from Cargill say they expect to increase production by 30 percent when the project is completed.
