Opening September 13 at the Crown Uptown Theatre it’s Cats. Broadway’s second longest running show in history and fourth longest running production in London’s West End history. This musical is an audience favorite composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as “the Jellicle choice,” deciding which cat will ascend to the Heavyside Layer and come back to a new life.
The Wichita State University School of Performing Arts presents Hunting a Doe Sept. 25-28 at 7:30 P.M., Sept. 27-28 at 2:00 P.M. at the Welsbacher Theatre. Hunting a Doe is the winner of the 40th Annual National Playwriting Competition at WSU. The play was written by WSU theater student, Kyle Dilley and is recommended for mature audiences. This production is directed by Jeannine Russell.
Wichita Community Theatre presents Jon Robin Baitz’s Other Desert Cities September 11-15. Brooke Wyeth returns home to her family in the winter of 2004 after a six-year estrangement. The holidays can be hard enough to get through, but little does her family know of Brooke’s memoir she is about to publish, which sheds light on a skeleton that none of them may be ready to lay to rest. This production is directed by Kenneth Mitchell.
Wichita Center For The Arts presents Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia September 18-22. Arcadia is set in an English country house in both the early 19th century and the present day.
